Port-Aine is a charming resort town which is located near the Noguera Pallaresa River. It is a ski resort since 1986 which is when the first of the ski lifts opened. Today there are 44 kilometres of alpine skiing available, with a total of 33 ski slopes. The longest run is 5 kilometres. In addition there are also two cross country tracks available with a length of 10 km and a range of other winter sports.
The 33 runs in Port-Aine cater mostly for experienced skiers as 13 of the runs are rated as red slopes and 7 as black slopes. There are only 7 green ones and 6 blue ones which has as a result that you will hardly find beginners here. You will still find a ski school in the resort with professional instructors that will teach you all the tricks and moves. Ski classes are available for Euros 22.80 per hour.
Ski passes here are relatively cheap with a one day pass for Euros 30, a weekend pass for Euros 52 and a 5 day pass (during the week) for Euros 129. Ski passes for the entire season are also available and cost Euros 460. To make skiing possible throughout the season, which lasts from the 1st of December until April, there are 90 snow cannons available which are covering 12 km of the pistes. The slopes are served by 9 ski lifts.
Those who want a break from downhill skiing can take advantage of the earlier mentioned cross country tracks or the facilities for sledge skiing and snowshoeing. A ski stadium is also offered in Port-Aine along with a freestyle park, jumps and quarter pipes for snowboarders. Some events are also held here as you can see on the list below:
